FAQ's

Frequently Asked Questions:

What time is best for portraits?
It all depends on the type of session. For outdoor sessions, it is best to do them in the morning or late afternoon when the sun is not directly shining above our heads. Indoor sessions can be done pretty much at anytime during the day. However, natural light is best in the morning.

What should I wear for the session?
Solid or printed outfits pop in pictures. Avoid clothing with big graphics or words as it takes away from the person being photographed.
For newborns: A onesie, just diaper or swaddle blanket is usually sufficient. Every newborn is different. We will work with you and your newborn to have him/her be as comfortable as possible. Moms - if you aren’t comfortable posing, give yourself a manicure in case you want close-ups of your hands cradling the baby’s hands, feet and head.

How do I prepare my child for the session?
Every child is different. Please be sure that they are well fed. Bring healthy snacks and drinks along in case they do get hungry. Have them clean and ready for the shoot. If they are to change outfits, try a layering outfit or something that will be a quick change. You know your child best, if they get fussy when it comes to dressing up keep it to one outfit. Have their favorite toy available if you would like to include it in your pictures.
For newborns: To capture those ultra cute poses it is best to photograph newborns within 7 to 15 days from birth. Schedule your session around your newborn’s nap and feeding routine. If possible, feed your baby prior to the session. This will allow time for their little tummies to settle. Please have wipes, diapers, burp clothes and pacifiers readily available and an extra person(like grandma or dad) around to help.

Can I take pictures or video tape during the photo session?
No. It is best to not have a lot going on as I try to capture those special moments. Having others photograph/vidoetape behind me is distracting to the person. It will disrupt the session and take away from the shots.

Why does custom photography cost more?
Photographs last forever. They are an investment of your families' memories. This link I came across sums up the answer to this question. Link
